TO SET THE SCENE: WE ARRIVED BY FLIGHT to VENICE AIRPORT, FULL ENTHUSIASM FOR OUR SHOOT IN THE ITALIAN DOLOMITES.

The thing is, after landing, we needed to drive North to the mountains which takes several hours. Now this is where I need to explain our issue that almost made this shoot not happen.

The weather report for the next day was forecast to be torrential rain - this was a huge shame because sure this is when we planned to do the shoot. But because we only had X&X with us for a limited time, decided the only option we had was to drive to the location on the same day we arrived, and to do the shoot hopefully before the sun would set. It was going to be very VERY close. No stops on the way there or we wouldn’t make it.

To add to the drama, I had only had about 4 hours sleep as I was photographing another wedding the day before in Aberdeenshire.

So we set-off and drove all afternoon before finally arriving at the shoot location just 45 minutes before sunset! WOHOO we did it!!

We didn’t quite make it to the spot I originally wanted but we saw this grassy hill with the most amazing view. I pulled over the car and hopped out and within 30 seconds I decided this was the best chance we had. It was mid October and the trees were beautiful rusty orange and mountains looked majestic standing proudly above.

Let’s do this.

Our couple jumped out and threw their wedding gear on. Thanks again to Mirka bridal for lending us a dress. As the sun was already setting behind the mountains we knew we didn't have long left. Considering everything and how nearly this shoot didn’t happen, I’m over the moon with the results. I’m so pleased I finally got to tick this epic shoot location off my dream list
