A true fairytale destination wedding in Scotland - read on to find out how they made their trip unique and one of a kind
Hayden and Savannah flew over from the USA for an intimate wedding at one of Scotland’s most breathtaking castle venues — a location highly recommended if you’re looking for a mix of glitz, glamour, and easy access from Edinburgh Airport.
Their wedding day was bathed in glorious sunshine, making every moment feel truly special. The morning preparations were suffused with golden light, giving the getting-ready photos a beautiful, airy feel. Later, this was complemented by a magical golden hour, when we wandered the castle grounds capturing intimate portraits as the sun sank low.
H&S chose an outdoor ceremony — a choice I can’t recommend highly enough for couples seeking a dreamy, open setting. We always bring a drone (weather and flight restrictions permitting), allowing us to capture breathtaking aerial shots that showcase the venue in all its glory.
A few special touches from their day that I absolutely loved:
- A First Look — This gave the couple precious time to connect before the ceremony and freed up space later in the day for more moments with friends and family. It also took the pressure off knowing we already had some beautiful portraits in the bag.
- A Scottish Adventure Session — After the wedding, H&S booked an adventure session as part of their honeymoon trip around Scotland. We met again in one of the country’s most iconic locations, Glencoe, exploring its best spots over a couple of hours. The couple said it was one of the highlights of their trip — and an absolute dream for a photographer.
- A Private First Dance — I’d never seen this before, and it felt incredibly special. An intimate moment for just the two of them, away from the crowd, making space for genuine emotion and reflection.
This was truly a magical day to capture — one where every glance, every laugh, and every scene felt like a frame from a film. We were there to capture it all, in both photo and video. You can watch the highlight film in the video gallery, linked at the top of the page.
