Could a Sports Day Be the Next Big Wedding Trend?
Kenny & Rebecca celebrated their wedding with a wonderful weekend at Thirlestane Castle. On day one, they threw what felt like a festival for their nearest and dearest, complete with sports day activities, an artisan pizza kitchen and plenty of beverages (even their own label beer) that their guests absolutely loved.
It was so much fun to photograph this opening chapter of the celebrations. So much thought had gone into every detail, and one particularly hilarious moment involved watching guests race around trying to find comically created photographs of themselves. Another was the egg and spoon race, or perhaps even the nail hammering competition or throwing the Wellington.
The wedding day itself had a completely different feel, full of sophistication and tender moments. Their outdoor ceremony was breathtaking—a photographer’s dream to capture.
There were three of us documenting the day: myself, our videographer James and second shooter, Sean.
There was so much to enjoy about this wedding, from Kenny & Rebecca and their family and friends having the best time in this iconic castle, to the personal touches throughout. Among my favourites were the custom-made heraldic banners Kenny had commissioned, which adorned the castle. A special mention goes to the owner, who scaled the turrets to fly them at the top!.
Below you will find a large selection of photographs from their weekend. I've popped the sports day photo's at the end, not worth missing!
