WINTON CASTLE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Kieran & Sophie’s beautiful spring wedding at Winton Castle, one of the most charming wedding venues just outside Edinburgh.
The day couldn’t have been better for photography. Warm spring sunshine, a gentle breeze and just enough cloud cover to soften the light created ideal conditions throughout the day. Alongside our videographer, James, I documented everything from the morning preparations and stunning outdoor ceremony to family portraits, candid moments and a lively cocktail hour filled with laughter.
One of my favourite parts of the day was seeing Kieran and Sophie fully embrace the experience. I always encourage my couples to relax, have fun and not worry about the camera. The best wedding photographs happen when you’re enjoying yourselves, and these two did exactly that. Once the cocktails arrived, their playful personalities really came to life, resulting in some of my favourite portraits from the day.
The speeches brought plenty of emotion. Sophie’s parents shared heartfelt words that had guests reaching for tissues, while Kieran was in great form throughout. The two best men delivered a memorable double act, complete with photographs from Kieran’s younger years that had the entire room laughing.
As a documentary wedding photographer, I particularly enjoyed capturing the atmosphere among the guests. From emotional embraces to spontaneous bursts of laughter, there were so many genuine moments that helped tell the story of the day. These are often the photographs that become most treasured over time.
If you’re planning a wedding at Winton Castle and are looking for a Winton Castle wedding photographer, Edinburgh wedding photographer, or East Lothian wedding photographer, I’d love to hear more about your plans. Winton Castle offers a wonderful mix of historic character, beautiful grounds and relaxed Scottish charm, making it an incredible setting for timeless wedding photography.
