A fun day with multiple locations, starting on EDINBURGH's CIRCUS LANE
What a fantastic way to start a wedding day! Instead of opting for traditional "getting ready" photos, K&C chose to kick things off with some informal group portraits on Edinburgh’s iconic Circus Lane. This is one of the things I really love about the Royal College of Physicians—it’s perfectly located, with Edinburgh’s charm right on its doorstep. This allows couples to plan a unique timeline, incorporating multiple locations for photos (as long as the schedule is carefully planned in advance!).
Their day looked like this. Getting ready at Air BNB separately > portraits and group photos of circus lane > Royal College of Physicians
For Kasey and Christian, we decided to start with bridal party portraits on Circus Lane. Once the photoshoot was complete, a classic car arrived to whisk them away to their ceremony. Honestly, this is such a brilliant way to begin the day. Not only did it set a relaxed tone, but getting these photos done early freed up more time later on. Fewer group photos during the cocktail hour meant more time for them to mingle with guests and truly enjoy their day.
ST MARY'S CATHOLIC CATHEDERAL, EDINBURGH
Kasey and Christian arrived at St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in style, stepping out of their classic car to the warm smiles of their family and friends. The ceremony itself was a beautiful, heartfelt service that lasted around 50 minutes. After exchanging their vows, the celebrations continued outside, where everyone gathered for a big group photo and a joyful flurry of confetti. From there, the entire wedding party made their way to the Royal College of Physicians on foot, led by the cheerful and unmistakable sounds of Roddy the Piper—a truly magical way to transition into the next chapter of the day!
The ROAYL COLLEGE OF PHYSICANS
After parading through the city, the excitement was palpable as everyone arrived at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. This welcoming and sophisticated venue never fails to impress. Having photographed countless weddings here, I’m always in awe of its stunning interiors. From the grand library to the striking red Great Room, every space exudes elegance and charm, leaving guests captivated. In terms of indoor venues in Edinburgh, it’s hard to beat—though The Signet Library and Mansfield Traquair are also firm favourites of mine. One of the many benefits of an indoor venue like this is its weather-proof reliability—a true blessing in Scotland, where sunshine can never be guaranteed!
The Great Room later became the heart of the evening, starting with a round of emotional and heartfelt speeches. With laughter, tears, and a palpable sense of love in the air, these moments brought everyone together in celebration of Kasey and Christian’s story. As the night continued, the energy soared thanks to an unforgettable performance by The Jets. Their lead singer, Annabelle, added an extra special touch for me personally—she was one of my brides earlier in the summer! It was such a joy to see her again, this time lighting up the stage and creating a dance floor filled with unforgettable memories.
